On Friday, May 27, 2016, a representative from Google visited Round Valley School as part of the Google Expeditions Pioneer program. Our Google Expeditions guide's name was Simon. At 7:35am, the day began with a quick staff training to introduce Google Expeditions to the teachers. Then, from 8:00am-2:20pm, all Round Valley students cycled through the RV library (2 classes at a time) to take part in the program. The students were engaged throughout the day and the impact of the program was visible and audible to all in the room.
Each grade level selected one main Google Expedition (with extra time devoted to exploring other Expeditions):
- 4th Grade: Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island
- 5th Grade: Egypt
- 6th Grade: Caernarfon Castle
The grade levels also created a lesson plan to integrate the Google Expedition Pioneer program into broader student learning. Ask your Round Valley student about this preview of virtual reality learning.
